Last night was pretty cute! It was our weekly little cell group meeting and dinner before we start. But yesterday was a bit different cos it was David’s birthday and we were all out to surprise him! Hehe…
So, he picked me up as usual and we went to my friend’s place to drop some books. Thank God we did! Cos Ianz then texted me and told me to make David drive slower cos her housemates went out to get some food! Waliao…how do you tell the birthday boy to drive slower so that our surprise doesn’t get ruined?!
Anyways…when we reach, I had to cook something out to make him park his car and go in instead of honking and waiting for Ianz to come out. So, I crapped something out like..”Errr…I think we go in first cos we gotta wait for Ianz’s housemates to be back. They are joining us today. Park your car and we bring our things in first.” Lo and behold, the surprise team came back with the food and cake! *pengsan*
Somehow they managed to run in when he wasn’t looking! Haha..When we went in, the first thing he said was, “Ey…how come I smell food?” I was like…Crap! Just ignore! Then told him to bring out things up to the room. Haha…*pengsan*
Then finally, the surprise team came up with the cake! Haha….And David was clueless about the surprise! Waliao…blur-ness! Hahaha….
Anyways, real sweet of Ianz and her housemates to cook dinner for us. Yummy!
But last night after I came back and as I was walking up the stairs with my Camomile tea, I suddenly felt a little sad. I suddenly remember how birthday celebrations were such a blast in other “normal” cell groups where there are more people. And yesterday, there were just a few of us to celebrate David’s.
I wonder if they miss those days when they were in more “normal” cell groups, more friends, more support, more fun. Sigh..I sure do. But our little group here is nonetheless very sweet! Haha….
In moments like this, I remember Dalvin’s encouragement to me. We might be small today, but we won’t be small forever. Don’t despise the days of small beginnings because little can be made much in the Master’s hands, just like the 5 loaves and 2 fishes. If we’re faithful with little, God can give us more.
Whatever it is, I just pray that we’ll build a new generation of doctors, people who love God, love people, love life. People who will not just live for themselves, but are willing to give and sacrifice so that others may live, so that others can have a better life.
And God knows how encouraging it is to know we’re not alone! My little chat with Esther from Moscow has really been sweet. Keep on keeping on MF!
Aaahh….vision really keeps people going eh? No wonder without vision, people perish.
P/S: Happy birthday David! Remember, you’re made to be a man of valor!
