The Gate of Heaven

Posted by sunshinedeb on February 28, 2008

Genesis 28:17

“…How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”

The house of God is truly amazing! So many people out there think church is boring, church is for those who have so much time they don’t know what else to do, church is for old people or church is too holy for them. Wrong wrong wrong!

I love my church! It’s so difficult to put in words and sum up how I feel. Go check out our video at http://www.chc.org.my/video.html. :)

Prayer meeting on Tuesday night was awesome! I think awesome is an understatement! Go watch the video! You’ll get what I mean :) Watching it brought tears back to me. CHCKL is really building people who are really hungry for God, people who really wanna see revival! I love looking at the way people cry out to God! Aahhh…..amazing! Especially the guys…The world thinks that macho and strong guys never cry, never need any help, never need anyone. But to me, the most macho guys are those that are broken before God and cry out to God. Oooo….*faint* It’s harder to do this than to pretend not to need anyone ya know…

Tuesday wasn’t a very happy day for me. I felt pressured with all that’s going around me, I was sad because of some issue. But the moment I stepped into the church hall, somehow there was an uplifting atmosphere! And when praise started, *bam* it was hard not to smile and laugh! :)

When worship started and when pastor took over worship, that’s it! No turning back! It really was like the gate of heaven. The place where we meet God face to face.

No way I’ll trade this for anything in the world! Not even for a rich, good-looking husband that will love me! Haha…

Church is not boring! In fact, it makes your life more exciting than ever! Hehe…don’t believe me? Come see and experience it for yourself! :)

When you say nothing at all…

Posted by sunshinedeb on February 26, 2008

“Words are creation of self and every time you open your mouth, you give the world a glimpse into who you really are.”

Ashley Highland

Hmm…I guess this quote is quite true. The Bible says, “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”

But there are times when we said things we didn’t mean. Words that we wish we can take back. But unfortunately, the damage is done.

”But words once spoke can never be recall’d.”

Wentworth Dillon (1633? – 1685)
Dillon is right I guess. But humans tend to be so quick with our words, especially women I think. And we hurt the people we love by saying something out of emotions and something we didn’t really mean.

“Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”

Rudyard Kipling (1865 – 1936)
Haha…I like what Kipling said! Words are indeed powerful! And it can drug another person!
I know I’m quick with words and I gotta use every inch of my fibre to remind myself just to keep quiet and don’t say anything that I’ll regret. If you’re not sure, just don’t say anything. But it’s so hard! Sometimes you wish you can just bomb out everything that’s in your heart! But I guess, we just gotta hold our horses and just keep quiet. Go in the restroom and scream if you have to! Haha….

“Eating words has never given me indigestion.”

Winston Churchill (1874 – 1965)
Giggles….I like what Churchill said! I guess we just gotta learn to eat more words. Eat less junk food, eat more words! Haha…
I guess…sometimes…in certain circumstances…it’s better not to say anything at all. You’ll probably say it best when you say nothing at all.

Pride & Prejudice

Posted by sunshinedeb on February 12, 2008

Aah…romance…I think there are many romantic movies. But one single one that I keep watching and can never get bored of is “Pride and Prejudice”. The script is amazingly beautiful. This is of course filmed based on Jane Austen’s book.

2 scenes I love most. The first one is when Mr Darcy expressed his feelings to Elizabeth but they end up fighting because of their pride and prejudice towards each other. The way Elizabeth rejected his proposal was so beautiful:

“From the very beginning, from the first moment I may almost say, of my acquaintance with you, your manners, impressing me with the fullest belief of your arrogance, your conceit, and your selfish disdain of the feelings of others, were such as to form that ground-work of disapprobation, on which succeeding events have built so immoveable a dislike; and I had not known you a month before I felt that you were the last man in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry.”

Wah…power! Hehe…and they speak with so much manners, with the British accent. Aah…nice! :)

The other scene I love is the last scene. Ooo…romantic! :) I can’t find the script. You wanna know…go watch it yourself! Hehe…

Elizabeth hated Mr Darcy so much but end up marrying him. Quite funny…hehe…romance romance…

Chinese New Year

Posted by sunshinedeb on February 12, 2008

I love this year’s CNY! Ate so much, played so much, and yes…receive so much! And yes..no need to work! Woohoo!

CNY is a time when there’s loads and lots of cookies! So I shall introduce some of them today…erm…if I know their names. Haha….

And of course…there’s something that you’ll love if you’re not married and something you’ll sigh about if you are. Yup…ang pao! I love them..haha..ya..cos I’m not married! :) It’s a way for adults to give blessing and show love to the younger ones. So, there’s money in the red packet. These days, people are putting cheques in there too. If you’re writing a cheque, please make it payable to Debbie Teh Sue- Jian. Thank you. :)

Then there’s also “yu sheng”. It’s quite cool how each item represent something. When we were eating at the restaurant, the person who served us wish us so many blessings as she prepared it. Fish represents abundance. The sauce represents a sweet life. The crispy crackers represent a lot of money in your pocket. Oil…I don’t remember. Then you’re suppose to toss everything as high as you can. It represents being successful and climbing up the success ladder as high as you can. So, the more successful you wanna be, the higher you should toss the yu sheng! I love yu sheng…so yummy! :)

Today is the 6th day of CNY. On the 9th day, Hokkeins are suppose to buy sugar cane and pray. There’s a story behind this. If I didn’t get it wrong, the 9th Day is considered the 1st Day for Hokkeins. Cos history tells us that it was war time, and they were hiding in the sugar plantation from the enemies. So, only on the 9th Day it was safe to come out. So, they always thank God for the sugarcane. Something like that….my Chinese history is lousy. Haha…

Then on the 15th Day, which is also Chap Goh Mei. Ahem…it’s Chinese Valentine’s Day. So..to the love birds out there, don’t forget it ya. If your girlfriend is Chinese, she might not talk to you for the next few days if you do. Haha…it happened before to a couple I know! :) Oh…to the desperados, you can go throw oranges in the river too ya. If you wanna catch people’s attention, throw coconut or watermelon! Haha…hehe….rumors tell me they throw banana in KL! Wahahahaha……

So…enjoy the rest of CNY. Gong Xi Gong Xi!!!

One thing he did this time is to give me short fringe on one side and long on the other to create a mysterious feel. Ooo….haha….

Second set of pics are of Ruskie! He’s not my dog but my Grandma’s sister-in-law’s granddaughter’s daughter’s dog. haha…He’s a toy poodle! So cute and manja! I want a new dog!!!!

This pic is romantic…Haha….I shall not reveal details. All I can say is…” Before I met you….after I met you…” :) To the person who made this: It’s amazingly beautiful! :)

Gong Xi Gong Xi!!!

Posted by sunshinedeb on February 9, 2008

Xin Nian Kuai Le! Gong Xi Fa Da Cai!!!!!

Yay! It’s the time of the year to receive my favourite gift: MONEY! Hahaha….

It’s a joy because I don’t have to work too! Woohoo! And the right thing to do is eat, watch TV, sleep, receive ang paos, go out and visit relative and friends. What a happy season! :)

We had a great reunion dinner this year! We had steamboat. Yummy! Ooo…I love abalone! :) Second day of new year was amazing! Because we visited 6 houses from 11 am till 11 pm. How about that? Very tiring but happy because we collected a lot of ang paos and we ate non stop from house to house! :) There was no need for a proper meal. Hahaha…

Today was set apart for my long time buddy, Shio Yen. All visitations are blocked for today because today is saved for her. So, I went to her house in the afternoon, talk with her parents awhile, taste her cookies for awhile, let her “view” her gift that I made for her and did some girls stuff at her house. Mmm…I can’t reveal the details…it’s a secret…ya know…girls stuff! Hehehe….

Then I went back home to eat my Mom’s yummy cooking before I went to Lili’s house to bai nian again. So..more cookies and eating! Hehe….

Then it was the moment of truth and reality! *so drama* It was time to go to the airport to send Shio Yen off. Thank God Tom and Lili went too. I needed moral support! Haha….

Sigh…kinda miss Yen already. I’ll need to get used to not calling her to yack on the phone from now on! Sniff…. But I didn’t cry at the airport k? really… I didn’t! hehe….

I’m back!

Posted by sunshinedeb on February 3, 2008

To my faithful readers, sorry for not updating cos I was really busy. But now I’m back! Hehe…

Wednesday was a great day because it was my special day! Hehe…I’m such a brat! Took leave from work, went shopping with my mom at Culture Couture and went to cut my hair at church. Woohoo! When I reached, there was another surprise! Lili, Shun and Jo pakat with my mom and sis to surprise me at church! Heee….so touched! Then we went to J.Co for awhile while I wait for my turn to cut my hair. Thanks girls for the surprise! I know you love me! Hehe….I’ll post the pics once I get them from Jo ya…

This is a week of blessing! I received so much money from ang pao and my pay, I gotta recalculate how much I have. But I definitely have enough to cover for building fund WITHOUT touching my savings! This is a miracle! God is amazingly faithful to His Word.

God, what would I do without You? Think I’ll die. Die also cham cos can’t go heaven. Haha…

Every week when I listen to sermons, I just can’t stop thanking God for all He’s done for me. Every week I’m still learning, still discovering, still changing. And I really thank God He has never given up on me. I’ve failed Him so many times, I’ve fallen many times but He just never gives up on me.

Pastor preached about the Holy Spirit last night. One thing that really hit me was the definition of a “witness”. A witness is someone who after hours of grilling from the lawyers will still testify of the truth and convince the jury of what he believes is the truth. Put this definition in our lives as a witness of Christ. After much grilling from people, persecution, hardships, will we still stand our ground and testify and convince people of what we believe is the truth? Wow! That hit me! :)

Pastor Tan’s sermon this morning was superb! He preached about fortitude and how to endure in life. That was a word for me. With so many changes in my life now and more to come in the next few months, I need to endure. I need to cling on to God even more, take my ground and stand firm with faith even more.

It’s so easy to get emotional and give up when things don’t go the way we hope they will. But we need to remember it’s those times that will build our character. And in fact, the Bible says in Hebrews 10:36 that we need to endure to do the will of God and receive His promises. Amazing eh?

But if you think you’ev endured so much, you can’t take it anymore, remember that God endures more than us! think about it…He has to endure much more to not give up on our crap! Haha…Seriously…God has amazing endurance not to give up on me till now.

I’m amazed how much more He’s showing me these days. Sometimes, we think we’ve known enough, the things in the past has taught us enough, only to realise the things in the past are still here to haunt you. Not because you don’t let go and learn, but it’s the fact that God changes us in stages and we grow and learn in stages too. One thing that my mentors said that really touched me was this, “Deb, you don’t know yet. You’re not doing it well yet. But it does not mean you won’t know forever. You can learn”. Thank God they never give up one me. :)

I’m again amazingly grateful that I have such a faithful God. Kau tetap setia Tuhanku…I can lose anything in life, but I cannot lose You….
